I was recently reading an article online about animal testing. Its somehing I had never given much though to. I was shocked. There was one account from the University of North Carolina where mice were getting their heads cut off by scissors. I'm not sure who this benefited. These animals are being force-fed chemicals that make them ill. They aren't given adequate exercise, room, care, sometimes even food and water. They are isolated as well and becauseof this they don't engage in any typical animal behavior. There have been video accounts of animals shivering when someone walks past. Obviously, they can see what is happening, and are living in fear. What I found even more disturbing than the living conditions was how some of the scientists were treating the animals. Beagles are a favorite, because they are passive and don't bite often. www.youtube.com/watch?v=_8YXuOV3N2A This video shows a lab where beagles are being abused. There are organizations out there like PETA that try to stop animal cruelty, but this still happens every day and hundereds of innocent animals die as a result.
